Grand Junction, Colorado

Grand Junction is on the western slope close to the border of Utah and it shows with its beautiful red rocks and sandy deserts.  The town is home to the Colorado Mesa University. The University is right in the middle of town and is named after the Mesa National monument just five minutes west of town. Grand Junction has tons of open space which makes it great for off-roading, mountain biking, and escaping the city. Also Moab Utah only being an hour and a half drive makes it easy for a quick weekend getaway.

The town has great warm weather for agriculture. Grand Junction is just a fifteen minute drive from palisade which is home to peach fest every summer. There are also several different winery and orchards all around the area. I also personally think they have one of the best farmers markets that take place every Wednesday and Sunday.

The Colorado River runs right next to the town. In the hot summers you will see some tubers staying cool.  Also just a few minutes outside of Grand Junction there are several places to go white water rafting.

Although Grand Junction is located in a dry desert ecosystem they do have Powder Horn ski resort located about thirty minutes east of town.
